After initially graduating high school and studying music at Wayne State, Dwele dropped out to pursue a music career on his own. While living in Detroit, Dwele started his musical career behind the keys of a piano before later learning to play the guitar and trumpet. As a child, he drew his inspiration from jazz music and his favourite artists, such as Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, Marvin Gaye and Miles Davis. Since his rise to fame, Dwele has been a hot commodity among other music artists, mainly because of his work with hooks. In the studio, Dwele writes his own songs and plays every instrument on his tracks as well. Triviaĭwele is known for his work as a solo artist, but he tours with a live band. In London, Dwele is set to play several shows at the Jazz Cafe before eventually venturing off to Paris for a show at the New Morning. Scheduleĭwele's tour begins with several stops in the United States, including San Francisco, Detroit and New York, before moving to Britain after a last stateside show at the Tangier in Akron, Ohio. So you can flashback to the '50s and '60s with Dwele's vintage style, but he won't let you forget his modern soul twist. Dwele's music may be classified as soul music, and it certainly is, but his fusion of soul with hip-hop gives his tracks a refreshingly modern twist. Soul music may have originated in the late '50s, but Dwele goes to show that the genre is still alive and well today.
